Mother Takes Son to Court for $1,385 in Damages from Violent Behavior

In a courtroom drama that highlights the destructive consequences of unchecked anger, a mother, Marie, has taken her 21-year-old son, Christian Perez, to court, seeking $1,385 in damages for property destruction. The alleged damage spans several years, including a broken chair, a damaged luxury car, ripped curtains, and a broken bedroom door, all of which Marie claims were caused by her son’s violent outbursts.

Marie’s emotional testimony painted a picture of escalating violence and anger from her son over the years. She recounted a series of troubling incidents that she argued were the result of Christian’s anger issues.

Among the most shocking of these was an incident from two years ago when Christian, in the heat of an argument with his younger sister, threw a chair at the wall in a fit of rage. Marie also brought up a destructive event from May 2012, when Christian, upset that his mother refused to let him use her car, jumped on the vehicle, causing significant dents and damage to the exterior.

However, it was an incident on the night of her son’s graduation party in February 2013 that Marie highlighted as the turning point. According to her, Christian became infuriated when a friend teased his sister. In response, he allegedly assaulted the friend, then proceeded to shove his sister into the bathroom curtains, breaking them.

Later that night, in a violent outburst, Christian reportedly ripped the bedroom door off its hinges. Marie cited these instances as examples of her son’s out-of-control temper, all of which contributed to her decision to file the lawsuit.

Marie defended her actions as a mother, admitting that she had made mistakes in her parenting. She revealed that she had allowed her underage daughter to drink alcohol and had even taken Christian to a strip club when he was 19. Her reasoning?

She claimed that as a “progressive” parent, she wanted her children to experience these things in a controlled environment, under her supervision. However, her actions as a parent were scrutinized by Judge Milian, who noted that Marie’s behavior as a mother could be contributing to the chaos in the home.

Christian, for his part, acknowledged that he had damaged a chair in one of his outbursts, but he denied causing any damage to his mother’s car, curtains, or bedroom door.

He explained that the chair incident occurred after his mother had woken him up at 5 a.m. to resolve an issue she had caused, including giving his sister alcohol. He claimed that he was furious at his mother for dragging him into a mess she had created and that his anger led to the destruction of the chair.
